Choy Li Fut

Choy Li Fut is one of the most complete and effective styles for health and self-defense.It combines the agile footwork of Northern Chinese Martial Arts with the intricate Southern Hand Techniques.
Choy Li Fut's forms are circular, powerful, and as beautiful to watch as they are effective in combat. They often contain over 150 individual movements, each one having a practical application in self-defense.
Choy Li Fut contains a wide variety of techniques, including long and short range punches, devastating kicks, deadly sweeps and takedowns, lethal pressure point attacks, joint locks, and grappling.

Choy Li Fut also has forms teaching the use of a large arsenal of traditional kung fu weapons, 52 to be exact, divided into long, short, twin, and flexible categories.

Grappling
Choy Li Fut is a traditional stand up system from a grass roots perspective and not being a grappling style of martial arts by nature. However, with complete aresnal of sweeps, arm and joint locking techniques, it easy too see the grappling art within the Choy Li fut system. Students learn techniques that both attack and defend against ground techniques as well. The are arm locks, finger locks.


Training
The Structure of the class is focused around the traditional Chinese and modern training methods that promote weight loss, increased physical strength, and vascular conditioning. We also training our body for the demands of fighting by strengthening bones and muscles through various traditional and non-traditional conditioning methods. The training methods used are also designed to improve your fighting skills and techniques, such as focus mitts, heavy bag and 2 person fighting drills.


Health Benefits

The program has health benefits such as weight loss, increased physical strength, and vascular conditioning in older adults. Weight loss will be obtain through continuous feet and hands movements, such as two and three kick and punch combinations and some those movements will be combined. Hands and Weapons forms training will increase footwork and balance, strengthen the arms and legs and increase the range of upper and lower body motion. Strength will be increase in the lower body and upper body, through stance training for the lower body and straight and circular movements in a preset hand and weapons sets for the upper body. Vascular conditioning will be improved by the combination of stance and preset forms training and breathing exercises.
